Rental terms & conditions
Plain-language rules for renting a surfboard and/or wetsuit from Swell Surf Rental. By sending a booking request and ticking the checkbox, you agree to these terms.
1. Booking
- A request on this website is not yet a confirmed booking. We confirm availability and pick-up details with you on WhatsApp.
- Nothing is paid online. You pay the rental price at pick-up.
- Plans changed? Just tell us on WhatsApp as early as possible — cancelling a request costs nothing.
2. Prices and rental period
Rental days are counted as calendar days from pick-up to return, both included (pick up and return on the same day = 1 day). The daily rate depends on the total rental length:

A leash and fins are included with every surfboard. Need extra days? Message us — extra days are charged at the same price list.
3. Pick-up, ID document and deposit
- Pick-up point: Santa Luzia Park, Funchal (map). Exact time is agreed on WhatsApp.
- Delivery anywhere else on the island is possible on request — place, time and any delivery cost are agreed in advance.
- No deposit is required.
- At pick-up we take a photo of your ID document (passport, national ID card or driving licence). Without it we cannot hand over the equipment.
- Please check the equipment together with us at pick-up — existing marks are noted so you are not charged for them.
- Return the equipment on the agreed date in the same condition you received it.
4. Damage fees
By renting a surfboard and/or wetsuit you agree to pay the following fixed fees if the equipment is damaged during your rental:
Surfboards

| Damage that cannot be repaired | €120 |
The type of damage is assessed by the rental point when the equipment is returned, in your presence.
5. Safety and responsibility
- Surfing is a sport with risks. You use the equipment at your own risk and are responsible for choosing spots and conditions that match your ability.
- Always use the leash, respect beach flags, lifeguards and local surf etiquette.
- Do not lend the equipment to other people. Do not leave it unattended or in direct sun for long periods.
6. Privacy
- No cookies, no analytics, no tracking. This website does not set cookies and does not load third-party trackers or fonts.
- When you send a request we store your name, WhatsApp number, dates, chosen item and optional message — only to handle your booking and contact you.
- Booking notifications are delivered to us by e-mail through our provider Resend (Resend, Inc.).
- The photo of your ID document is taken in person at pick-up, never uploaded through this website, and is deleted once the equipment is returned and the rental is settled.
